Closed Loop Communication for Hybrid and Off Grid Systems

We believe closed loop communication should be utilized in every hybrid or off grid power system whenever possible. Closed loop communication is when lithium batteries bms (battery management system) sends the pure sine wave inverter information such as the battery state of charge, voltage, and other parameters. This allows the inverter in real time to change the power flow to the load so the battery isn’t overcharged or over-discharged. To take things further, the communication in a closed loop system is bi-directional so not only does the battery send information to the inverter, but the inverter can also send control signals to the battery to regulate the charging and discharging rates. What does this mean for you? It means your battery bank will last longer and generally be safer because the system can communicate so many more variables than a non-closed loop or traditional system that solely monitors battery voltage. Some systems we install that offer closed loop communication are: Victron with Pylontech batteries, Sol-Ark with Simpliphi, Homegrid, or Fortress Power lithium batteries, or Enphase IQ8 microinverters with the IQ battery system. If you are interested in installing a closed loop communication system for your grid-tied, hybrid or off grid project, let us know!
